Readiness Emergency Management for Schools

Greene County Education Services along with the five school corporations in Greene County, Indiana: Bloomfield School District, Eastern Greene Schools, Linton Stockton School Corporation, MSD Shakamak, and White River Valley School Corporation will work together along with Greene County Emergency Management, Sheriff’s Department, Local Police Force Agencies and First Responders to create a comprehensive, inclusive, up-to-date, county-wide emergency preparedness and response plan.  The efforts of this project were executed by the collaborative effort of all county schools, first responders, and key stakeholders operating as a unified team.  This project is designed to improve the capacity of all stakeholders to prepare for, respond to, and initiate recovery efforts in the event of natural or man-made disasters, emergencies, disease, and terror attacks.

This project is a carefully crafted comprehensive action plan that is supported by informed decision making and the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders.  The proposal enlists a model that emphasis training –training for first responders, school personnel, and parents.  This plan also emphasizes the continual review of all policies and protocols and the testing of those policies and protocols in tabletop exercises.  The project will enlist the collaborative effort of all schools and all community partners.

The purpose of this REMS project is to improve and strengthen emergency response and crisis management across Greene County, Indiana by developing a comprehensive, county-wide, collaborative plan that addresses the needs of all populations, develops protocols to prepare for coordination of multiple hazards, continually evaluating vulnerabilities/hazards and is revised and updated annually.  With the ultimate outcome of safer schools that will enhance the learning environment and all communities within our county.
